Obstetric and newborn emergencies are rare, high-risk calls, and among the most stressful situations an EMS provider may face. The Handtevy Newborn Resuscitation & Obstetrics Course (NROC) is designed to give prehospital professionals the knowledge and confidence to manage pregnancy-related emergencies, emergency delivery, and newborn resuscitation in the field. This course is completed online in about two hours. Certified Handtevy instructors can also add an additional two-hour classroom session with cases, delivery practice, and hands-on newborn resuscitation skills. Together, the online and classroom sessions provide four hours of CAPCE-approved continuing education.
Built for EMTs, paramedics, and prehospital clinicians, this course focuses on the most critical elements of maternal and newborn stabilization. You’ll learn practical strategies for assessment, delivery preparation, neonatal ventilation and resuscitation, medication support, and team readiness that can be put into practice immediately.
This training is concise, accessible, highly relevant, and delivers real skills that reduce anxiety and improve performance when every second matters.
What You’ll Learn

Certification
Successful participants earn a Handtevy Newborn Resuscitation & Obstetrics Course Certificate, valid for two years.
